Reading Workshop:First graders are learning how to identify the main idea and supporting details in a text.  First graders learned what the story is mostly about is the main idea.  Also, supporting details will tell about the main idea.

Spelling: First graders learned that ing, ed, ly, y, and er are instant syllables when found at the end of a word.  Ask your child about the different sounds ed makes at the end of a word.

Writing Workshop:When I grow up, I want to be?  Your child is writing about a job he/she might want to have when he/she grows up. 

Math: First graders are learning how to tell time using analog and digital clocks.  First graders learned about the hour and minute hand.

Science: First graders are learning about Matter and Energy.
